Martina Harms

Prof. Dr. Martina Harms serves as Professor of Business Administration specializing in Human Resources and International Management at Bremen University of Applied Sciences since 2012, where she concurrently leads the Management in Retail (MiH) and Dual Study Management in Retail (DSMiH) programs. Her institutional roles extend to deputy membership in the MDT Management - Digitalization and Transformation MA study commission and active participation in multiple undergraduate study commissions within the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics.

Her academic foundation includes:

• Doctorate (Dr. rer. pol.) from Helmut Schmidt University Hamburg (2002)
• Master in European Human Resource Management through a consortium including Cranfield University, EM Lyon, and ESADE Barcelona (1997)
• Diploma in Economics (Dipl.-Oek.) from University of Bremen (1994)

Her research integrates Human Resources Management with International Management through the lens of Intercultural Competence and Diversity Management, particularly applied to Project Management frameworks within global retail contexts. This interdisciplinary approach bridges theoretical HRM models with practical cross-cultural leadership challenges in multinational corporations and retail operations.

With extensive international teaching experience across six continents including ESADE Barcelona, CBS Copenhagen, and USST Shanghai, she currently shapes retail management education through curriculum development for bachelor's programs while mentoring students in cross-cultural negotiation and conflict management techniques.

Prof. Harms drives institutional innovation as Board Member of the Center for Case Studies e.V. (Hamburg), Board Member of Bremen's ZIM Center for Intercultural Management and Diversity, and Founding Member of the Institute for Human Resource Management. These roles position her at the forefront of developing intercultural management frameworks and case-based pedagogical approaches for global business education.
