Timothy Larsen is the McManis Professor of Christian Thought at Wheaton College, Illinois, and an Honorary Fellow at the School of Divinity, University of Edinburgh. He has held visiting fellowships at Trinity College, Cambridge; All Souls College, Oxford; and Christ Church, Oxford. His work focuses on the intersections of religious thought, Victorian culture, and intellectual history.
Research interests include 19th-century religious doubt, Victorian biblical culture, anthropology of religion, and the life of John Stuart Mill. He has authored over twenty books, such as Crisis of Doubt, A People of One Book, and The Oxford Handbook of Christmas.
Professional recognition includes fellowships from the Royal Historical Society and the Royal Anthropological Institute. His scholarship bridges historical analysis with theological reflection, particularly examining how faith interacts with secular intellectual movements.
