Timothy Clydesdale is a Professor of Sociology at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). Previously, he served as an assistant professor at Gordon College (1994–1996) before joining TCNJ in 1996. He has held administrative roles including department chair, vice provost, and dean of graduate studies. His research focuses on religion, social attitudes, and the lives of American young adults, particularly their transitions through college and early adulthood.
Education: B.A. from Wheaton College (1986), M.A. (1991) and Ph.D. (1994) from Princeton University. His doctoral dissertation explored the intersection of religious restructuring, income inequality, and family behavior. He co-authored *The Twentysomething Soul* (Oxford University Press), analyzing the religious and secular lives of young adults through interviews and surveys. The book received acclaim for its nuanced portrayal of twentysomethings' spiritual and social dynamics.
