Thomas Shepherd is a Senior Lecturer in Public Health and Primary Care at Keele University's School of Medicine, and Deputy Director of the Institute of Global Health and Wellbeing. His research addresses global mental health challenges, particularly in low-middle income countries, with focus on HIV/mental health comorbidities, chronic disease management, and infodemiology.
Recent publications (2022-2025) demonstrate methodological diversity including systematic reviews, qualitative studies, and digital epidemiology using Google Trends data. Thematic focus includes adolescent health interventions, disease stigma, pandemic impacts on vulnerable populations, and analysis of health information-seeking behaviors. Work spans multiple regions including Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Lesotho, and Africa.
