Associate Professor Rohan Jayasuriya is affiliated with UNSW Sydney's Medicine & Health faculty. His research focuses on Global Health systems, particularly health systems strengthening, human resources for health, and psycho-social factors in chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. He has conducted extensive work in post-conflict mental health, including studies on PTSD in Sri Lanka and trauma-related mental health outcomes in displaced populations. His research also explores organizational behavior in technology adoption within healthcare settings and health inequity in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Key research contributions include evaluating interventions for blood pressure control via mobile health (mHealth) in Nepal, analyzing tuberculosis care practices by informal providers in India, and validating mental health assessment tools in Sri Lanka. His work often emphasizes participatory methods and context-specific solutions for health system challenges.
Dr. Jayasuriya's interdisciplinary approach spans public health, organizational behavior, and mental health, with a focus on translating research into policy and practice. He has collaborated on projects in Papua New Guinea, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and India, addressing issues such as rural health worker performance, diabetes self-management, and health insurance impacts on non-communicable disease burdens.
