Prof. Dr. Thomas Schmaus is a Full Professor of Philosophical Anthropology at Alanus University. He currently chairs the Doctoral Committee and has held leadership roles including Head of Studium Generale and program director for Philosophy, Arts, and Social Entrepreneurship. His research focuses on human ecology, phenomenology, and the ethical implications of digitalization. Born in Augsburg in 1978, he holds a PhD in Philosophy from Munich School of Philosophy and has taught globally.

Key research areas include human-nature relationships, digital ethics, and the Anthropocene. Recent work critiques late-modern self-optimization paradigms and explores water's philosophical significance. Over 20 published books/chapters address ethics, technology, and existential philosophy.
Lectures include keynote speeches at international conferences on posthumanism, digitalization's societal impact, and urban gardening's anthropological dimensions. Active in interdisciplinary dialogues about Big Data in healthcare and sustainable tourism.
