Mathias Wirths

Mathias Wirths holds dual academic roles as an Associate Professor at the University of Siegen (since 2021) and a Professor for Construction Technology at Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences, Alfter (since 2012). He leads the Materials Laboratory within the Department of Architecture at the University of Siegen and teaches Materials Science. Additionally, he has served as Managing Director of the Interdisciplinary Competence Center for Old Buildings (InKA) since 2008. His academic journey includes a PhD in Engineering from the University of Siegen (2008) and architecture studies at the University of Siegen and BUGH Wuppertal.

Research Interests:

Projects include “BioBauDigital” (2022–2024), exploring renewable materials for construction, and “Zukunft Bau” (2022–2024), advancing sustainable building practices.

• “Biobasierte Produkte – Baustoffe aus nachwachsenden Rohstoffen” (2017–2020): EFRE-funded collaboration on bio-based building materials.
• Realization of 70 cooperative apartments in Siegen (2016–2020).
