Dr. Thomas J. Ricer is a Lecturer in Tuba, Euphonium, and Music Education at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa, where he also performs with the Royal Hawaiian Band. His roles include teaching brass instruments and music education, alongside active performance commitments across orchestras and ensembles.

Research & Performance: Ricer specializes in tuba and euphonium performance, modern jazz, and funk music. He has performed with orchestras such as the Cincinnati, Honolulu, and Knoxville Symphony Orchestras, as well as ensembles like Keith Brion’s New Sousa Band and the Po’ Boys Brass Band. His writing appears in the International Tuba and Euphonium Association’s Journal, focusing on brass instrument pedagogy and performance.
Labs/Teams: Active member of multiple musical groups, including the Blue Wisp Big Band, Jack Carr Big Band, and the Hawaii Opera Theatre orchestras. He also leads "CASH Back," a tribute band to Johnny Cash, as lead singer and bassist.
