Thomas J. Figueira

Thomas J. Figueira is a Distinguished Professor of Classics and Ancient History in the Department of Classics at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, where he has been a faculty member since 1979. He is based in the School of Arts and Sciences and contributes extensively to both undergraduate and graduate education in ancient history and literature.

His research interests span a broad spectrum of ancient Greek history, including the political, economic, and social histories of Athens, Sparta, Aegina, and Megara.
