Matthew Sears is a Professor and Director of Majors and Minors in Historical Studies, as well as an Undergraduate Advisor in Classics at the University of New Brunswick. His research focuses on military monuments, war commemoration, and ancient historiography, with specialization in ancient Greece and Rome. He holds a PhD in Classics from Cornell University and has authored multiple books including Sparta and the Commemoration of War (2023) and Understanding Greek Warfare (2019).
