Thierry Middleton

Thierry Middleton is a Senior Lecturer in Sociocultural Studies at the University of Portsmouth's School of Psychology, Sport and Health Sciences. He holds a PhD from Laurentian University (2021) focusing on refugee youth and community sport programs. His research emphasizes psychosocial and cultural aspects of sport/physical activity, prioritizing community collaboration for impactful outcomes. Key awards include the 2021 Governor General Gold Medal (Canada) and the 2023 Outstanding Paper Award.

Research Focus:

He is assistant theme lead for Inclusion and Governance in the Culture, Behaviour, Inclusion & Governance Theme.

Labs/Teams: Centre for Interaction, Development and Diversity at Portsmouth. Active in global sport psychology networks through editorial roles and keynote speaking.
