Dr. Thi Thu Hao Van is a Principal Research Fellow (VC Fellowship) at RMIT University's School of Science. Her research focuses on molecular microbiology, with expertise in gut microbiota manipulation, bacterial pathogen identification, and intervention strategies against bacterial diseases such as probiotics and vaccines. She has secured funding from Australian and Vietnamese government and industry partners, collaborating with institutions like the Institute of Biotechnology (Vietnam Academy of Science), University of Science (Vietnam National University HCM City), Iowa State University, and industry partners Scolexia Pty Ltd and Bioproperties Pty Ltd.
Her research interests span microbiology, veterinary sciences, animal production, biochemistry, zoology, and food sciences. She actively supervises PhD, Master’s, and Honours students, emphasizing mentorship for the next generation of scientists. Dr. Van's work bridges academia and industry, addressing challenges in poultry health, food safety, and microbial ecology. She leads projects on Spotty Liver Disease in poultry, probiotic development, and the role of dietary fibers in health.
Her recent publications explore topics like food additive impacts on health, freshwater turtle microbiota, and Campylobacter pathogenesis. Collaborations with global partners highlight her commitment to solving industry problems through interdisciplinary research.
