Prof. Teun Tieleman is a Professor of Ancient Philosophy and Medicine at Utrecht University's Faculty of Humanities, affiliated with the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies. He specializes in Galen of Pergamum, Stoic philosophy, and the intersection of ancient medicine and religion. Currently a visiting scholar at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (Feb–July 2023), he focuses on Galen and early Stoicism. Tieleman earned his PhD from Utrecht University in 1992 and has held visiting roles at institutions like Cambridge, UCLA, and Novosibirsk State University. He directs the NWO-funded 'Human Nature' project (2015–2021) and chairs the national research school OIKOS.
