Dr. Albert Joosse is an Assistant Professor of Ancient Philosophy at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Arts. His work focuses on Plato, Stoicism, and Neoplatonism, particularly exploring how ancient philosophers communicated ideas through literary forms and the reception of Platonic texts. He leads the OIKOS Research Group on Ancient Philosophy and Science and serves on teaching and research councils within the Classics department.
His research emphasizes narrative analysis of philosophical texts, such as Alcibiades I, self-knowledge concepts, and the work of Olympiodorus of Alexandria. He has published extensively on topics like pseudepigraphic authorship, ancient therapeutic dialogue, and the interplay between philosophy and religion in late antiquity.
