Prof. Teresa Russo is an Associate Professor at the Department of Legal Sciences, University of Salerno, and holds the Jean Monnet Chair EUVALWEB (2022-2025) while previously leading the Jean Monnet Module EUWEB (2019-2022). Her work focuses on EU Law, migration policy, transnational crime, and Western Balkans enlargement. She directs the EUVALWEB Legal Observatory on cross-border security, migration management, and fundamental rights. Key roles include:
- Leading EU-funded projects on EU-Western Balkans legal cooperation
- Editor-in-Chief of the EUWEB Legal Essays journal
- Advisor on EU-JHA acquis implementation
Research Interests: EU migration law, human rights in border control, rule of law in enlargement processes, transnational criminal justice, and EU external security strategies.
Recent Articles Focus: Migrant detention practices, Dublin Regulation failures, victims’ rights directives, and EU solidarity mechanisms. Her work bridges legal analysis with policy impact, particularly regarding Balkan route crises and Western Balkans accession.
Grants & Awards: Jean Monnet grants from the EU Erasmus+ program for academic initiatives promoting EU values and legal awareness.
Labs/Initiatives: EUVALWEB Law Clinic training students on EU-JHA legal challenges; EUWEB research group coordinating academic-practitioner dialogues on EU external policies.
