Professor Tania Lewis is a faculty member at RMIT University's School of Media and Communication and chairs the Social Change Symposium for the College of Design and Social Context. Her research focuses on sustainability, digital ethnography, and the intersection of lifestyle, consumption, and media. She has held leadership roles, including Director of the Digital Ethnography Research Centre (2018–2022), and has authored over 100 publications and several books, including Digital Food: From Paddock to Platform (2020).
- Former roles: Medical doctor in New Zealand, five competitive fellowships (e.g., Senior Vice Chancellor's Fellow at RMIT).
- Research interests: Sustainability transitions, digital food practices, remote work, and media's role in shaping lifestyles.
Her research employs digital ethnography to explore topics like café sustainability, upcycling, and remote work dynamics. She has advised on projects such as the Digital CBD roadmap and studies on household food waste. Her work bridges interdisciplinary fields, including media studies, sociology, and public health.
Publications span journals, book chapters, and edited collections on ethical consumption, green Asia, and lifestyle media. She serves on editorial boards for journals like Cultural Studies and Media International Australia.
