Associate Professor Lukas Parker is a leading academic in social marketing and advertising at RMIT University's School of Media & Communication. He specializes in behavior change, health communication, and sustainability, addressing social issues like food waste, sustainable consumption, and health promotion. Parker co-leads the Communication Collaboratory (3C) and collaborates with organizations such as the End Food Waste CRC and Australian Red Cross Lifeblood. His research spans qualitative and quantitative methods, focusing on topics like gamification in health, digital advertising, and social enterprise marketing.
He actively supervises PhD projects on health communication, environmental behavior, and social media advocacy. Parker has over 50 peer-reviewed publications, including influential co-authored books such as Social Marketing and Advertising in the Age of Social Media (2020). His work integrates interdisciplinary approaches to tackle pressing social challenges, emphasizing participatory design and community engagement.
Parker’s teaching interests include social marketing, digital advertising, and sustainability strategies. He is open to supervising research in areas like health communication, consumer behavior, and the intersection of technology and social change. His recent projects address food labeling reforms, influencer-driven health campaigns, and the role of augmented reality in marketing.
