Tamar Rubinstein, MD, MS, is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a Pediatric Rheumatologist at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. She specializes in treating children, adolescents, and young adults with complex rheumatologic diseases, particularly leading multidisciplinary care for patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). Dr. Rubinstein earned her MD and MS in Clinical Research Methods from Albert Einstein College of Medicine following a BS from Yale University. Her fellowship in Pediatric Rheumatology was completed at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (2016).
Her research focuses on improving mental health outcomes and SLE disease management in youth. She leads the Einstein Pediatric Lupus Cohort and chairs CARRA’s SLE Mental Health Workgroup. Notable achievements include receiving the Lupus Foundation of America Career Development Award and the Rheumatology Research Foundation K-Bridge Award. Her work addresses gaps in mental health care for rheumatology patients and leverages biomarkers to advance SLE diagnostics.
Dr. Rubinstein’s articles highlight themes such as neuropsychological assessment tools (AMFAST validation), predictive modeling of lupus nephritis progression, and systemic evaluation of mental health service barriers in pediatric rheumatology. Her contributions span clinical practice, translational research, and healthcare policy.
She holds clinical locations at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and Montefiore at 141 South Central Avenue in Hartsdale, NY.
