Dawn M. Wahezi

Dawn M. Wahezi, MD, MS, is Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Chief of Pediatric Rheumatology, and Director of the Pediatric Rheumatology Fellowship Program at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM). She practices at multiple Montefiore locations including the Bronx and White Plains.

Dr. Wahezi's research centers on juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) and juvenile systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), with a focus on understanding and preventing premature atherosclerosis in these pediatric rheumatic diseases. She has established an interdisciplinary clinic and a comprehensive patient registry at CHAM to advance care and research in these conditions.

Her scientific contributions have been acknowledged with the Cure JM Foundation Early Investigator Award.

In her role as Fellowship Program Director, Dr. Wahezi trains the next generation of pediatric rheumatologists. She actively participates in national organizations including the American Academy of Pediatrics Rheumatology Advisory Board and the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA), fostering collaborative research and clinical care improvements.
