Dr. Pooja Patel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics (Rheumatology) at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She joined the Division of Rheumatology in 2020 and is affiliated with Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.

Her work involves tailoring immunosuppressive therapies to help patients achieve the best quality of life possible, while also working closely with families to help them understand their child's diagnosis. She values the long-term relationships developed with her patients and is passionate about teaching trainees in the field of pediatric rheumatology.
Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on lupus research, particularly in the areas of health disparities, treatment efficacy, and clinical guidelines for pediatric lupus nephritis. The publications show her involvement in large clinical trials evaluating new therapies for childhood-onset SLE and juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
