معرفی
Dr Sylvia Pender is an Associate Professor at the University of Southampton, affiliated with the Institute for Life Sciences and the Centre for Human Development, Stem Cells and Regeneration. Her research focuses on colorectal cancer imaging, immunological mechanisms, and advanced biomedical visualization techniques. She has pioneered the use of synchrotron-based X-ray phase contrast tomography for early cancer detection and 3D cyclorama imaging for tissue morphology analysis. Dr. Pender’s work integrates molecular biology, computational imaging, and clinical applications.
- Projects: Received EU funding for IBDase and IPODD initiatives, and collaborated on studies involving mast cell interactions and nasal polyp formation.
- Awards: Recognized with the Best Poster Prize (2019), British Society Gastroenterology Awards (2017-2023), and Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (2024).
Her research has led to novel insights into mitochondrial dysfunction in T cells, bacterial survival mechanisms, and imaging protocols for early cancer biomarkers. She actively supervises PhD students like Murad Baabbad and presents at international conferences on imaging innovations and cancer research.
