Suzanne MacLeod is a Professor of Museum Studies and Co-Director of the Research Centre for Museums and Galleries (RCMG) at the University of Leicester's School of Museum Studies. Her work focuses on expanding the social value and ethical potential of cultural heritage through collaborative research with museums, galleries, and heritage organizations. Key projects include addressing museum attendance gaps, fostering trans-inclusive cultures, and exploring anti-ableist practices in institutions like the Science Museum and National Portrait Gallery.
Her research expertise spans museum design, inclusive practices, and ethical interpretation. Notable publications include Museums and Design for Creative Lives (2021) and Museum Architecture: A New Biography (2013). She co-edits volumes such as The Future of Museum and Gallery Design (2017), emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to cultural spaces.
MacLeod’s current projects address organizational transformation, equitable audience representation, and ethical museum practices. She leads RCMG’s initiatives to bridge research and practical challenges in the cultural sector, advocating for socially responsible cultural institutions.
