Cesare Cuzzola serves as a Research Fellow at the Research Centre for Museums and Galleries (RCMG) within the School of Museum Studies at the University of Leicester, a position held since 2019. His work bridges museum practices with social justice initiatives through material culture research.
He earned a PhD from the School of Museum Studies examining how museum projects address contemporary social inequalities via material culture, building on prior anthropological training specialized in material culture studies.
Dr. Cuzzola's research integrates Material Culture Studies, Museum Studies, Anthropology, Social Inequalities, Queer Heritage, and Collections Management. Since 2024, he has coordinated the Queer Heritage and Collections Network, advancing LGBTQ+ representation in museum contexts through collaborative scholarship and practice.
His current work at RCMG focuses on leveraging museum collections to confront societal challenges, particularly through the Queer Heritage and Collections Network which connects heritage professionals and researchers in developing inclusive curatorial approaches.
