Suzanne L. Marchand is the Boyd Professor in the Department of History at Louisiana State University (LSU), College of Humanities & Social Sciences. A distinguished historian of modern European intellectual and cultural history, she specializes in German and Austrian studies, classical reception, material culture, and the history of the humanities.

Her current research focuses on Herodotus' reception from 1700 to present, culminating in her forthcoming book Herodotus and the Instabilities of Western Civilization. She maintains interests in classical studies, art history, anthropology, and theology in modern Europe, as well as porcelain and material culture history in Central Europe.
Recent publications explore topics like Herodotus' Egyptian historiography, Theodor Mommsen's humanistic knowledge, and Zarathustra chronologies. Articles span classical reception studies, disciplinary history, and orientalism.
