Suzanna Danuta Walters is Professor of Sociology and Director of the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program at Northeastern University's College of Social Sciences and Humanities, and Editor-in-Chief of Signs: Journal of Women in Culture and Society. Her research critically examines gender, feminist politics, sexuality, and cultural representations.

Her scholarship interrogates the limitations of tolerance frameworks in LGBTQ+ equality (The Tolerance Trap), analyzes the politics of visibility (All the Rage), and explores feminist theory in digital activism eras. Current work investigates 'call-out feminism' and social media's impact on feminist discourse, bridging academic and public spheres through cultural critique.

As program director, she oversees curriculum development and academic initiatives across undergraduate and graduate levels. Her leadership includes founding Indiana University's pioneering Ph.D. program in gender studies (2004) and directing Georgetown University's women's studies program, shaping institutional frameworks for interdisciplinary gender scholarship.
