Susan E. Short is a Professor of Sociology at Brown University and the Robert E. Turner Distinguished Professor of Population Studies. She has been affiliated with Brown University since 1997 and served as Director of the Population Studies and Training Center (PSTC) from 2016 to 2024, with prior roles as Associate Director (2000-2003, 2004-2006) and NIH T32 Training Director.

Recent publications explore geographic dementia patterns, contraception access, and reproductive health through mixed-methods frameworks. Her work has appeared in Annual Review of Sociology, Demography, and American Journal of Public Health.
