Susan Ballantyne is a Lecturer in Education (Pedagogy, Praxis & Faith) at the University of Glasgow's School of Education. She serves as Programme Leader for the M.Ed. in Primary Education (with Teaching Qualification) and provides strategic leadership for Year Heads, Course Leaders, and teaching staff. With 30 years of experience in Scottish primary schools and a background in Social Sciences and commercial leadership, she transitioned from Depute Head Teacher to teacher education in 2015. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including 'Education and Society,' focusing on societal influences on young people.
Education: Master’s focus in Educational Leadership and Administration.
Research Interests include innovative teacher education, mentoring, outdoor learning, safeguarding children, and creativity in education. She delivers keynote lectures on child protection, professional learning, and inclusive practices.
Committee roles include chairing the M.Ed. Year Head forum, Student/Staff Committee, and Internal Exam Board. She also participates in the School of Education’s Progress Committee, Learning and Teaching Committee, and Scottish Wider Access Programme. Professional memberships include the General Teaching Council for Scotland.
