Sue Steen is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Nursing at Bethel University’s College of Adult and Professional Studies. She teaches in the Nursing (RN to B.S.N.) and Post-Baccalaureate Nursing (B.S.) programs. Her career focuses on maternal/child health and perinatal bereavement, with research and publications in the latter area. She currently serves as a Perinatal Nurse Navigator, supporting families who have experienced fetal or neonatal loss. Additionally, she pioneered the 'Birth with Dignity: Mothers and Babies of Uganda' high-risk perinatal program in Mbale, Uganda.
Education: B.A. in Nursing (Gustavus Adolphus College, 1978); M.S. in Nursing (University of Minnesota, 1982). Joined Bethel in 1983.
Research emphasizes compassionate care for families facing perinatal loss and global maternal health initiatives. Awards include the 2015 Minnesota Nurse of the Year in Women’s Health.
