Sue Padernacht is a Continuing Lecturer at the Paul Merage School of Business, University of California, Irvine (UCI), where she teaches Executive Leadership, Negotiations, and Talent Strategy & Management in the Executive MBA, Health Care Executive MBA, and Fully Employed MBA programs. She also holds a faculty appointment at UC San Diego Rady School of Business, teaching Strategic Communications in the Master of Accounting program.
Her academic background includes an EdD in Organizational Change and Leadership from the University of Southern California, an MA in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University, and a BA in Psychology from SUNY Stony Brook.

Dr. Padernacht's research and professional focus centers on leadership development, organizational change, physician burnout, and healthcare team dynamics. She brings over 35 years of corporate leadership, executive coaching, and organizational consulting experience to her academic roles. Her expertise spans emotional intelligence assessments (ESCI, MSCEIT, EQ-i), leadership team development, and talent strategy across diverse industries including healthcare, media, technology, finance, and government.
She is a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coach Federation and has led executive education initiatives at multiple institutions. Her work bridges academic theory and real-world application in organizational transformation.
Dr. Padernacht has received the Excellence in Teaching Award for Negotiations in the Executive MBA program and is a member of the Merage Institute faculty. She has also contributed to corporate executive education and staff development at institutions like Georgetown University and Gallaudet University.
She actively mentors leaders and advises C-suite executives through her firm, Ncline Leadership Strategies. Her nonprofit involvement includes serving on the National Board of the American Lung Association, where she supports diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, public policy, and career development. She has previously served on the boards of the American Cancer Society and United Way's Kellogg Training & Consulting Center.
Dr. Padernacht is also an InterSem interfaith facilitator and has conducted leadership and emotional intelligence workshops across academia and industry.
