Dr. Sue Outram is a Senior Lecturer and Director of Programmes in the Department of Natural Sciences at Middlesex University's Faculty of Science and Technology. She holds an honorary associate professor position at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health (ICH/UCL). Her research focuses on T and B cell function, immunoregulation, and morphogen signaling, particularly in the context of γδ T-cell differentiation and BMP/Hedgehog signaling pathways. She leads the MSc Biomedical Science programs in Medical Immunology and Infection and Immunity. Outram has supervised multiple PhD students, including Elham Mousavinezhad Sarasia and Tunch Akmandor, and chaired thesis committees for Eden Zhang and Seyed Amir Hossein. Her work bridges immunology and developmental biology, with publications exploring cellular signaling mechanisms in immune development.
- Roles: Programme Leader (MSc Biomedical Science), Module Leader (Immunology, Immunopathology, Immunoassays)
- Research Collaborations: Ongoing with Prof. Tessa Crompton at ICH/UCL
Her teaching spans undergraduate to postgraduate levels, covering Immunology, Endocrinology, and Professional Practice in Biomedical Science. No awards are explicitly listed, though her research has been supported by grants including an EU Capitol Mobility Grant during her postdoctoral work in Madrid.
