Sucharita Gopal is a Professor at Boston University's Department of Earth & Environment and a research affiliate at five university centers, including the Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future. She also holds a Visiting Professor appointment at the Vienna University of Business and Economics, Austria.

Her multidisciplinary research integrates GIS, artificial neural networks, data mining, and spatial statistics to address challenges in urban planning, public health, environmental science, and sustainable finance.
