Steve Sherman serves as the Executive Director of the Peugeot Center for Engineering Service to Developing Communities, the non-profit arm of the Raymond B. Jones College of Engineering at Lipscomb University, a position he has held since 2019. Previously, he served as the Missionary in Residence at Lipscomb University, teaching missions, until his retirement from that role in March 2022.
His academic credentials include:
- B.A. from Harding University (1975)
- M.A.R. from Harding University Graduate School of Religion (1983)
- Doctor of Ministry in Missions from Gordon Conwell University (2012)
Sherman specializes in community development and appropriate technology, focusing on engineering solutions for underserved regions. His work through the Peugeot Center integrates humanitarian efforts with practical engineering applications to address infrastructure and public health challenges in developing communities.
With extensive field experience, he directed medical missions and a nationwide Malaria Prevention Program in Belize (1984-1988) and served as Country Director for Health Talents International in Guatemala (1989-1997). His career bridges engineering service with community-based health initiatives.
Concurrently with his university roles, Sherman served as Missions Minister at Otter Creek Church of Christ in Nashville from 2001 until his 2022 retirement from that position.
