استاد · Ultrafast Laser Investigations
University of California, Berkeleyمعرفی
Stephen R. Leone is the John R. Thomas Endowed Chair in Physical Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley, with joint appointments in the Department of Chemistry and the Applied Science and Technology (AS&T) program. He leads experimental research in ultrafast laser molecular dynamics, chemical dynamics, and nanostructured materials investigations.
- Education:
- B.A., Northwestern University (1970)
- Ph.D., Physical Chemistry, University of California, Berkeley (1974)
Research Interests:
His work spans attosecond physics, soft x-ray probing, nanostructured materials, and chemical dynamics. Projects include femtosecond laser dynamics, time-resolved x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and ultralow-temperature gas-phase kinetics relevant to planetary atmospheres.
Scientific Honors:
- Alfred P. Sloan Fellow (1977-1981)
- American Chemical Society Pure Chemistry Award (1982)
- Guggenheim Fellow (1988)
- National Security Science and Engineering Faculty Fellowship (2010)
- Member of the National Academy of Sciences (1995)
- Fellow of the American Physical Society, Optical Society of America, and American Association for the Advancement of Science
Laboratory: His lab occupies multiple spaces (D40, D42, D39, D35, D60, D93 Hildebrand) and explores advanced techniques like apertureless near-field optical microscopy and attosecond pulse generation.
