Adrian Cavalieri is a Professor of Nonlinear Optics at the University of Bern and Head of the Laboratory for Non-linear Optics (LNO) at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI). He holds a joint position, leading LNO in providing optical laser technology for the Swiss X-ray Free-electron Laser (SwissFEL) and advancing ultrafast/X-ray science. His research focuses on nonlinear optics, ultrafast X-ray sources, and attosecond spectroscopy, with applications in materials and life sciences. Cavalieri earned his PhD in Applied Physics from the University of Michigan and a BS in Engineering Physics from Cornell University.
