Stephanie Ureña

Stephanie Ureña is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow affiliated with the University of Maryland, collaborating with Professor Katrina Walsemann, Roger C. Lipitz Distinguished Chair in Health Policy. She is also a faculty affiliate of the Maryland Population Research Center (MPRC). Her research focuses on the intersection of social factors and population health, with an emphasis on aging, health disparities, and the long-term health implications of military service among U.S. veterans. She has secured federal funding from the National Institute on Aging (NIA) for her work on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

Her research spans interdisciplinary topics including life course processes and the structural determinants of health. Notably, she examines how military service trajectories influence veterans’ health outcomes over time. Funding and affiliations highlight her contributions to health policy and population studies.
