Katrina Walsemann is a Professor and Roger Lipitz Chair in Health Policy at the University of Maryland's School of Public Policy. Her research focuses on social inequities and life course health, particularly how educational systems influence physical, mental, and cognitive health across structural factors like race, gender, and class. She holds a Ph.D. in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan (2005), an M.P.H. (2000), and a B.A. in Psychology from UC Davis (1997). Her work integrates public health, sociology, education, and demography to address systemic inequities in health outcomes. Key research topics include early school environments, student debt impacts on mental health, and historical education policies' long-term effects.
