Dr. Stephanie Brown is an Assistant in Research at the Florida Center for Reading Research (FCRR) and an instructor in the Department of Educational Policy and Leadership Studies (ELPS) at Florida State University (FSU). She holds a Ph.D. from FSU’s ELPS department (2017). Her research focuses on educational policy, implementation science, and teacher preparation, emphasizing mixed-methods approaches to address complex educational challenges. Brown has held roles including Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Center for Research in Policy and Practice (University of Colorado Boulder) and Graduate Research Associate at the National Center on Scaling Up Effective Schools.
Her professional experience spans nine years as a public elementary teacher in Florida and international teaching with Disney English in Beijing, China. In higher education, she taught at York College of Pennsylvania and FSU. She actively contributes to professional organizations like the American Educational Research Association (AERA) and has led initiatives such as directing the Early Childhood Education Program at York College. Brown’s work emphasizes bridging research and practice through collaborative partnerships.
Awarded the William T. Grant Foundation’s Early Career Reviewer Program, her contributions highlight her commitment to evidence-based educational research. She has published widely and presented at national/international conferences, focusing on translating research into actionable practice.
