معرفی
Stephan Dudeck is a Senior Researcher and Visiting Teacher at the Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland, focusing on Arctic Societies: past, present and futures. His work spans multiple international collaborations, particularly with institutions in Russia and other Arctic regions.
Dr. Dudeck's research interests center on Indigenous Communities in the Arctic, with particular focus on Reindeer Herding practices across northern Eurasia. His work examines the social, cultural, and ecological dimensions of human-animal relationships in challenging environments like the Taiga and tundra regions of Western Siberia and European Russia.
His recent publications demonstrate a strong trend toward ethical research practices with Indigenous communities, genomic studies of Arctic-adapted species, and policy-oriented work on gender equality and security in the Arctic region. This interdisciplinary approach bridges natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities perspectives.
Dudeck has been involved in significant research projects including "Profi 1 (APPA): Academy strategic profiling Plan of Action" funded by the Academy of Finland (2015-2019) and "ARC-ARK: Human-Animal adaptations to the Arctic environment" funded by the Research Council of Finland (2015-2018). These projects focused on collaborative research with Indigenous communities and understanding adaptations to the Arctic environment.
