Stephan Dudeck is an Affiliate Scholar at the Research Institute for Sustainability (Helmholtz Centre) and Research Associate at the University of Tartu. His anthropological work centers on indigenous rights and decolonial methodologies in Siberia, with over 20 years of fieldwork among reindeer-herding communities.
His research examines strategies of indigenous resistance against resource extraction, cultural heritage preservation, and collaborative documentation projects. Recent policy work includes co-authoring EU guidelines for decolonial Arctic research through the Indigenous Voices research group. Dudeck has held positions at Max Planck Institute and University of Lapland.
Key projects focus on oral histories of displacement and developing ethical frameworks for indigenous researcher partnerships, particularly in contexts affected by oil industry expansion.
