Dr. Steffi Hamann is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Science at York University's Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. Her research focuses on international development, food security, and agrarian change in sub-Saharan Africa, employing mixed-methods approaches for stakeholder engagement. Previously, she worked as a policy consultant for Germany's GIZ agency, advising on development initiatives.
- Education: PhD (Political Science/International Development, University of Guelph), MA (International Relations, Universität Bremen), BA (International Politics & History, Jacobs University).
Her research interests include sustainable livelihoods, governance, and rural policy, with fieldwork emphasizing Africa. She has published in journals like Globalizations and Canadian Journal of Development Studies, and co-authored Commodity Politics (McGill-Queen's UP).
