Adam Sneyd is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Guelph, affiliated with the College of Social & Applied Human Sciences. He specializes in the political economy of commodities, globalization, and global governance, with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa. His research examines the intersections of corporate social responsibility (CSR), poverty reduction, and development challenges in Africa, including studies in Cameroon and Tanzania.
Dr. Sneyd holds a doctoral degree from McMaster University. His work includes books such as *Cotton* (Polity Press, 2016), *Governing Cotton: Globalization and Poverty in Africa* (Palgrave Macmillan, 2011), and *Hidden Politics in the UN Sustainable Development Goals* (2024). He has received grants, including the Africa Initiative Research Grant (2012) and SSHRC Insight Grant (2015–2019).
He teaches courses on International Political Economy, Global Justice, and Development Theory, both at undergraduate and graduate levels. His advising includes doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate students. He serves on editorial boards for *Scientific African* and the *Canadian Journal of Development Studies*, and moderates high-level panels on global economic issues.
His research explores commodity politics in Cameroon, food security in Central Africa, and the geopolitics of cotton. He emphasizes critical analysis of global institutions and development frameworks, advocating for renewed political approaches to sustainable development.
