Stefano Rozzoni, PhD, serves as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Lecturer at the University of Bergamo, Italy, within the Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. Previously, he held a Postdoctoral University Assistant position at the University of Graz, Austria. His academic foundation includes dual PhDs: one in 'Transcultural Studies in Humanities' from the University of Bergamo and another in 'Literary and Cultural Studies' (cotutelle) from Justus-Liebig-University Giessen.
Rozzoni's research spans multiple intersecting fields with a primary focus on environmental narratives in Anglophone literature and culture. His work examines 20th century literary movements including Georgian Poetry and Modernist British literature, with particular attention to the Bloomsbury Group, Virginia Woolf, and Vita Sackville-West. He investigates how environmental themes manifest across diverse media forms including movies, theatre, memes, and video games, with special interest in pastoral traditions, Franciscanism, urban/rural spaces, and ecofascism. A central pillar of his scholarship is posthumanism, which he explores through the Italian Posthuman Network (Rete Posthuman Italiana), which he co-founded. His current research intersects Environmental Humanities and Digital Humanities to study contemporary pastoral manifestations.
Rozzoni's publication record demonstrates significant engagement with environmental philosophy and posthuman thought, with numerous recent articles published in 2024-2025. His work shows a clear trajectory examining human-nonhuman relationships through literary and cultural lenses, with particular emphasis on Francis of Assisi's ecological legacy, digital environments like Minecraft, and responses to the Anthropocene. His scholarship bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications, as evidenced by his empirical study on air pollution narratives in educational contexts.
As Principal Investigator of the 'NEST Research Network. Narratives in Environmental and Sustainable Transitions' funded by the European Union (NextGenerationEU) and the Italian Ministry of University and Research, Rozzoni leads significant research initiatives at the intersection of environmental studies and literary scholarship. His work on the Economy of Francesco project demonstrates his ability to connect literary analysis with economic discourse, particularly regarding Franciscan philosophy's influence on contemporary thought.
