Stefano Musacchi is a Professor and Endowed Chair of Tree Fruit Physiology and Management at Washington State University (WSU), within the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences. His academic journey includes roles at the University of Bologna and the University of Bolzano before joining WSU in 2013. He holds a PhD and MSc in Horticulture (Pomology) from the University of Bologna.
His research focuses on orchard management practices, rootstock evaluation, fruit quality enhancement, and precision crop load management for apples, pears, and cherries. He has secured over $5.8M in competitive grants and led projects like USDA-funded initiatives addressing post-harvest diseases and precision apple management. Notable achievements include patenting four pear cultivars and publishing 190+ peer-reviewed articles.
