Dr. Shahla Mahdavi is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of Idaho's College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, teaching courses in horticulture and plant tissue culture techniques. Her research examines physiological aspects of fruit production systems with emphasis on apple physiology and sustainable orchard management.
Education includes:
- Ph.D. from University of Tehran-University of Idaho (2016)
- M.S. from University of Tehran (2012)
- B.S. from Isfahan University of Technology (2008)
Research focuses on pomology, abiotic stress physiology (particularly drought responses), and innovative production systems including vertical farming and controlled environment agriculture. Her work integrates practical solutions for orchard management with fundamental physiological investigations.
Recent publications demonstrate expertise in rootstock-scion interactions, tree architecture management, and mineral nutrition effects on fruit quality. Her scholarly output includes significant contributions to understanding physiological disorders in apple production and historical perspectives in horticulture.
Professional recognition includes leadership roles in the American Society for Horticultural Science Pomology Working Group and awards for student research contributions.
