Stathis Psillos is a Professor of Philosophy of Science and Metaphysics at the University of Athens, Greece, and holds adjunct positions at the University of Western Ontario (Rotman Institute of Philosophy) and the London School of Economics (Centre for the Philosophy of the Natural and Social Sciences). He specializes in scientific realism, causation, explanation, and the history of philosophy of science.
His research interests include mechanisms in science, metaphysical debates about laws and powers, and the intersection of epistemology with contemporary science. He has authored/edited 12 books and over 170 papers, including influential works like *Scientific Realism: How Science Tracks Truth* (1999) and *Causation and Explanation* (2002). His work has been recognized with prestigious awards and he serves as a leading figure in academic organizations such as the European Philosophy of Science Association.
Psillos is currently Principal Investigator for the Elidek-funded project on 'Laws and Powers in the Metaphysics of Science.' He has delivered over 215 invited talks and maintains active roles in editorial boards and academic governance. His contributions span theoretical philosophy while engaging deeply with scientific practice and societal impacts of science.
