Psillos Stathis

Psillos Stathis is a Full Professor at the University of Athens' Department of Philosophy and History of Science. He has held academic positions including Rotman Canada Research Chair at the University of Western Ontario (2013-2015) and has been involved in founding the European Philosophy of Science Association (EPSA). His research focuses on scientific realism, causation, and the metaphysics of science. Educated at the University of Patras (Physics) and the University of London (PhD in Philosophy of Science), he has received prestigious awards such as the British Society for the Philosophy of Science Prize (2004) and the Choice Outstanding Academic Title (2008). His work spans philosophy of science history, epistemology, and structural realism.

Key roles include Editor of Metascience (2009-2014), EPSA President (2007-2009), and member of the Académie Internationale de Philosophie des Sciences. He has secured significant grants like the EU Thales II-funded APRePoSMa project (€600k). His research interests also include exploring Peirce's abduction, Reichenbach's realism arguments, and Poincaré's philosophy of science. He has held visiting fellowships globally, including at the University of Cologne and the Homi Bhabha Centre in Mumbai. His scholarship bridges historical and contemporary debates in science philosophy, emphasizing the interplay between metaphysics and epistemology.
