Sophie Allen is a Lecturer in Philosophy at Keele University's School of Social Sciences. She holds a PhD from the University of London and has taught at prestigious institutions including Oxford University (2002-2015) and University College London. Her research focuses on metaphysics, philosophy of science, and philosophical methodology, with a particular interest in properties, causation, modalities, and the relationship between metaphysics and science. She is the author of A Critical Introduction to Properties (2016) and currently explores disagreement in metaphysical discourse.

- Metaphysical realism and its alternatives
- Scientific realism and kinds in natural/social sciences
- Explanation of consciousness and theories of meaning

Teaching: Offers courses in Continental Philosophy, Ancient Philosophy, Philosophy of Science (Year 2), Philosophy of Language (Year 3), and Philosophy of Social Science (MRes). Supervises PhD topics in metaphysics, philosophy of science/mind/language.
