Professor Stana Zivanovic is a faculty member at the University of Warwick's School of Engineering. She rejoined Warwick in 2023 after five years at the University of Exeter, with prior affiliations to the University of Sheffield and the University of Belgrade. She serves on the School's Education Committee and University's Finance and General Purposes Committee, and acts as Academic Integrity Manager for the School of Engineering.
Her research focuses on reconciling vibration serviceability with structural sustainability through modeling human-induced dynamic loading, human-structure interactions, and vibration performance of lightweight materials like FRP composites. She leads projects like SENSATION (2023-2025) and vPERFORM (2020-2022), and collaborates with institutions worldwide, including Monash University, Politecnico di Milano, and TU Delft.
Recent publications explore topics such as rhythmic jumping efficiency on vibrating platforms, pedestrian-structure interaction with FRP footbridges, and advanced walking force models for lightweight structures. Her work integrates biomechanics with structural engineering to improve vibration design guidelines.
She serves as Associate Editor for ICE's Structures and Buildings journal and co-organizes sessions at the IMAC conference. Industrial partnerships include Arup, Network Rail, and Jacobs.
PhD/postdoctoral opportunities exist under her supervision, particularly for candidates seeking joint Monash-Warwick, Chancellor's International, or CSC-Warwick scholarships. She emphasizes early preparation of research proposals and funding applications.
