James Poskett is an Associate Professor in the History of Science and Technology at the University of Warwick, specializing in global scientific exchanges from the 15th century to present. His award-winning research decenters Eurocentric narratives of scientific development.
His publications include 'Horizons: A Global History of Science' (Jerry Bentley Prize winner 2023), examining contributions from African, Asian, and Pacific scientists, and 'Materials of the Mind' (President's Book Award 2020) analyzing phrenology's global networks. Current research explores the Scientific Revolution as global history (1200-1800).
Dr. Poskett teaches modules on science and global politics, race in science history, and world history. He supervises PhD projects on colonial science, fossil colonialism, and knowledge networks.
