Sonia Matiuk

Sonia Matiuk is a Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), part of the Faculty of Health. She holds roles such as Course Director (2023–2024), First and Further Year Experience Coordinator (2022–2024), and Learning.Futures Fellow (2015–2021). Her educational background includes a Master of Nursing (2005), Bachelor of Nursing (1998), and Graduate Certificate in Neuroscience Nursing (2002) from UTS.

Her research focuses on student-centered learning, authentic assessment, and course alignment. She has coordinated subjects and supported subject coordinators in optimizing student learning outcomes. Key interests include simulation education, clinical practice integration, and nursing education innovation.

Her teaching philosophy emphasizes active and collaborative learning, with a focus on student success in achieving learning objectives. She has contributed to curriculum design and implementation of pedagogical approaches aligned with contemporary higher education standards through her Learning.Futures Fellowship.

In service leadership, she has been a Committee Member and First Aid Officer with community agencies since 1994, demonstrating commitment to healthcare preparedness and community engagement.
